Biopsy is a medical examination of tissue in which a surgeon or an interventional radiologist extracts a tissue or cell sample from a living body. The purpose of this test is to find out the cause, presence or effect of a disease in the body. A pathologist analyses the sample chemically under a microscope to study it. Biopsy techniques are quite common in the treatment and analysis of cancer.
