HIV/AIDS stands for Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. HIV gets transmitted into the body through unprotected sex, infected blood transfusions, sharing needles, and during pregnancy from mother to the child. Once the virus gets entry into the body, it starts incorporating its genes into human DNA and hijacks human cell to create HIV virus. The infection caused by this virus hits body’s immune system. As a result of which, the body loses its ability to fight the infections. Although, the disease has no permanent cure, however, through consistent and proper treatment with the use of specialized antiviral medications an HIV patient may have a long life like that of an uninfected human.
