Pharmacists work in various work environments such as community and hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical companies, primary care organizations, veterinary pharmacy, military pharmacy, and so. Besides administering and dispensing medicine, pharmacists also perform various other job responsibilities as well, which include ensuring medicine supply, checking medicine quality, advising healthcare professionals on the effective and safe use of medicine. They also supervise and assess the production and preparation of medicine before it reaches to patients from the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit.
The qualification, licensing requirements, and certifications required to work as pharmacists differ from country to country. Pharmacists need to hold either a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or Master of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree, depending on the state where they want to pursue their career as a pharmacist. To understand the actions, side effects, its uses, and other parameters of biochemical mechanisms and drugs, pharmacists undergo graduate-level or university level education. Along with imparting knowledge of medicine to patients, pharmacists also communicate critical information about the same to physicians and other healthcare providers as well.
