Traumatology refers to the branch of medicine dealing with the study, diagnosis and surgical treatment of wounds and injuries caused to a person by violence or accidents. A doctor specializing in the treatment of both internal and external bodily injuries caused by a traumatic experience or situation is known as Traumatologist. From mechanical, thermal to chemical, they handle all types of injuries because of which a person may experience trauma. The specialist uses various diagnostic devices to offer immediate care to such patients including magnetic resonance, ultrasound, radiography, CT scans, etc. based on the need. Use of these imaging devices helps the Traumatologist to find out the extent and type of external damage caused to the body of the patient.
