Veterinarians take care of all the healthcare needs of animals, which includes zoo animals, pets, avian, livestock, and laboratory animals as well. They mostly work in private clinics. Besides diagnosis and treatment of animals, veterinarians also perform a variety of other responsibilities such as euthanizing animals, administering immunizations, offering emergency care, physical examination of the animal and advising pet owners on how efficiently they can take proper care of their pets in terms of nutrition, vaccination, and overall well-being.
To practice as a veterinarian, the healthcare practitioner will have to acquire a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree offered by an accredited veterinary medicine college and also advanced specialization or residency training to be able to practice. It is a must to get certified and licensed from their respective state of practice.
