It is called yellow fever because the word yellow refers to jaundice that some patients may have as one of the symptoms. The other symptoms of yellow fever include muscle pain, fatigue, headache, vomiting, nausea, and, most commonly, fever. Only a considerate proportion of patients who contract the virus, causing yellow fever to develop severe symptoms. Out of them, half may die within the next seven to ten days. However, an effective vaccine that can prevent yellow fever is available in the market. Taking a single dose of the vaccine boost immunity and provides life-long protection against yellow fever.
